COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

CHILDRENS MUSEUM

There are many events held at LaCrosse’s Children’s Museum that rely on volunteers in order to go smoothly. So many times they reach out to the ultimate to come down and help out with them. Some of the larger events that the ultimate team has been involved with in the past tend to come around the holiday times, especially Halloween. Those who sign up get to dress up in fun costumes and help kids play games while winning games and prizes along the way. This is a big help for the Children’s Museum and is beneficial to us as a team because it not only helps our club get recognition and volunteer hours, it is also very helpful for team members who intend on becoming teachers and need more hands on experience working with kids.

HIGHWAY CLEAN UP

The Adopt a Highway program was set up to help keep local stretches of road clean and beautiful, by using volunteers to help pick up trash along the side of them. BadLUC “owns” a strip of highway up in the bluffs and as a team we clean it twice a year. This helps keep the bluff highway looking great and gets great name recognition for our team out in the public because our stretch of highway is marked by signs saying that this stretch of highway is being taken care of by BadLUC.

MOVE-IN CREW

Every year thousands of new freshmen move into campus and need help getting all of their stuff into their dorms. Volunteers are there to help them and their families move their belongings into their dorms. This is massively helpful for both the freshmen and their parents and is a great way for us to meet potential recruits, as well as make new friends.

GRANDADS HALF MARATHON

Every year in the spring time, there is a half marathon that goes through the bluffs. Volunteers are required to help the event go smoothly. We are asked to help set up, clean up and facilitate the event in any way possible. Having events like this is great for helping promote healthy lifestyles, as well as help generate money for UWL scholarships and other worthy causes.

LAX VEGAS

LAX Vegas is a community hat tournament we hold every winter at UWL. Players from all over the area come to participate in our indoor tournament.

POLAR PLUNGE

Every year brave and or mildly crazy people jump into freezing water in order to raise money for the Wisconsin Special Olympics. Volunteers are needed to help set up and clean up the event as well as keeping the divers warm after they take the plunge. This is a great event for a great cause.
